The A100 design scope
The team study considered a paracetamol facility in the Melbourne region, spanning intermediate production, API synthesis, and tableting and packaging. My contribution focused on early drawings for A100, the phenol-to-p-nitrophenol section.
My contribution
I prepared the initial process flow diagram and an early revision, then developed the initial process-control drawing. These drawings helped express equipment, stream, utility and recycle relationships. The final report includes subsequent team changes to equipment, stream tables and controls.
Process and control documentation
PFD and P&ID drafting, equipment and stream mapping, utility and recycle connections, and initial process-control documentation.
- Prepared the initial A100 PFD and an early process revision in March 2025.
- Completed the initial A100 process-control drawing in April 2025, providing a basis for discussing feed, temperature, level and pressure measurements and connections.
- Contributed these drawings to the final team report, where the revision histories distinguish my initial work from later team updates.
Drawings in the team report
The deliverables were early A100 drawings incorporated into the team report. This work provided practice in communicating a process through connected equipment, streams and control information, with a traceable record of individual drawing contributions.
Project work and supporting records
Drawing revision records
The final report’s A100 PFD records my initial drawing and early process changes in March 2025 (Appendix A). The A100 control drawing records my initial work in April 2025 (Appendix B), followed by team revisions.
Scope and limitations
This case covers my early A100 drawing work within a team course design. The wider simulation, hazard and economic analyses were team outputs. The drawings describe a proposed process and do not establish pilot operation, commissioned production or pharmaceutical certification.
